The local schools in the Bodiam area are Excellent. Bodiam primary school is a 2 min walk away & is a small village school with under 70 pupils attending split into 4 classes. A link to the school is listed below.
The secondary school for the area is Robertsbridge Community college, which again is an excellent school. One of the smallest schools in East Sussex with aprox 600 pupils attending, Robertsbridge has an excellent reputation for learning. An LEA school coach operates from Bodiam to take students to & from school each day. A link to the school is listed below.
Stagecoach operates a 2 hourly bus service from Hawkhurst to Hastings through the village, however this only operates from Monday to Saturday, & there are no busses after 6pm (Hence my need to relocate!) Details of the 349 timetable can be viewed below.
The nearest mainline train station is located in Robertsbridge which is a 10 min drive away & operates a regular service to Tunbridge Wells, London & Hastings. Link to directions & timetables can be viewed below.
Bodiam village has no shop. The local shop & post office is Johnson's - Londis in Sandhurst, which is a 5 min drive away.Sandhurst also has a petrol station. The shop is open till 7pm 7 days per week & sells a large range of goods & also operates a DVD rental service. The nearest supermarket is Budgens, located in the small village of Hawkhurst, which is a 10 min drive away. Hawkhurst also has a cinema in the village. Levetts Lane runs a fruit & veg market on Friday afternoons selling wonderfully fresh local fruit, veg, bread & milk, together with homemade cakes & pastries. The stall is run by local residents, & the produce supplied by local farms, enabling the stall to sell the produce for a fraction of the cost of supermarkets!
The property is heated using oil fired central heating. There are a range of local companies who deliver heating oil to the area. We use Nigel Collison fuels & pay by monthly Direct debit budget scheme. Southern counties fuels also operate a budget scheme & are another local company. Links to both companies are listed below.
